Top 10 Sure Remedies for Removing Blackheads

What are blackheads?

In simple, understandable terms, blackheads refer to the small black bumps that appear on your skin, especially on the face. They are usually referred to as ’’blackheads’’ because of their dark or black appearance on the skin. They are a mild form of acne though they could be severe in some cases. Blackheads mostly appear on the face though they can also occur on the chest, arms, and back.

What causes blackheads?

Blackheads occur when the hair follicles on the skin are clogged by excess fats and dead cells. Follicles contain a sebaceous gland whose role is to produce oil that keeps the hair soft. When dead skin cells and oil are trapped on the opening, they form a bump. If by any chance, the bump stays enclosed under the skin, it remains white and is thus called a white head. Contrary, if it’s exposed to the air, it gets oxidized and turns black.

Blackheads hit teens the most at the puberty stage mainly because of the overproduction of sebum. If this continues, a small spot could enlarge to a visible comedo which can later worsen to a papule, node, or cyst.
